When I first joined Twitter, I was SOO confused! I created my account but found that I was not seeing people's tweets and the engagement was low. This did not make me want to stay on twitter and over the years I was on and off. Eventually, I started following people I knew and those from my hometown and found that it helped me to feel more connected. In the future, Twitter will definitely continue to serve as a source of networking and staying up to date.
The digital divide is starting to become more apparent as innovation continues. This can negatively impact students when teachers cannot keep up with the new technology produced intended to support student learning- instead it can cause a waste of time. The causes of this divide is due to innovation and generational differences. Eventually, this will catch up to me when I am expected to engage with new and unfamiliar technology. I can address this by being proactive in my lesson plans and learning how to master the technology prior to implementing it in my classrooms.
Academic software is an amazing way to engage students. Kahoot! and Google scholar are two software tools I hope to implement in my classroom. Kahoot! games are one way to engage students in some friendly competition. They will aid in motivating my students. Google scholar is a search engine built for those seeking academic resources. In research, it is important to use resources that meet that standard and introducing this to my students can help to equip them for their future research projects.
Hi Victoria! Love your blog theme. I think it was really important of you to acknowledge the negative impacts of the digital divide in the classroom. I too hope to address this problem through learning more and being proactive in this class.
