My First Blog Post!

Hello! My name is Victoria and I am excited for this course. I am from the City of North Miami and identify with it deeply. My community is a strong source of my identity as we are all very close for such a large city. I aspire to make a difference in the world through tackling the manifestations of systemic oppression in education.

With the COVID-19 pandemic, technology has come to play a larger roles in everyone's lives, especially our students! Education has moved to exist solely online for a while and our society is still adapting to this hybrid idea of education. Before this, my experiences in technology in schools have been someone limited and only as a student. Most of my experiences were in pilot programs as my school district was preparing to become paperless. I am interested how our education system will fund and manage technology in schools now, especially in communities that are underfunded.

To support my learning goals, Google is my first point of searching what I need to know! I have always relied on online resources for books, articles and more. Not only is it a search engine, but its other platforms are so helpful for staying organized or learning new helpful skills. I do not often look at forums or discussions board due to the unreliability of the information. However for my studying needs, Quizlet is also another platform that I frequent. Offline, I will reach out to other students that I trust to guide me in the right direction or my teacher if I really cannot find the answer.

  1. Hi, Victoria! I am also from Miami and, much like you, aim to reform the education system when I start my career. I think it is of the utmost importance to ensure that ALL students - regardless of factors like gender, race, and socioeconomic status - are given equal academic opportunities. I am so glad you are passionate about this issue, too!

I also had very limited experiences with technology throughout school. Isn't it weird that our lives have become virtual so-to-speak? I am, without a doubt, not the most tech savvy person. However, I am grateful that the pandemic has, at the very least, expanded my knowledge regarding gadgets and other devices.

It is so nice to meet you!

I'm also glad to see what is to come in the incoming future with funding and education. Google and quizlet are also very reliable learning tools!
